What is a digital twin?
A digital twin is an interactive digital copy of a real place, building or facility. By combining 3D models, high-resolution imagery, measurement data and map information you can explore, measure and analyse the object directly in the browser – as if you were on site.
How it works
From site visit to finished model the work happens in four steps. We handle the capture, but you own the result and can use it in whichever platform or app suits you.
Data capture
We photograph, film or scan the object from the air, water or ground. Every pixel or measurement gets a real-world coordinate.
Processing
Imagery and measurement data are combined into point clouds, mesh or orthophoto. The result is a georeferenced 3D model that matches reality.
Interactive model
The 3D model is published in a web portal or app where you can fly around, zoom, measure distances, add notes and share with colleagues.
Everyday use
Through design, inspection or facility management, the twin becomes a living document. Update it as things change and you always have the current picture.
Common use cases
Digital twins are used for documentation, planning, design, inspection and facility management. Here are a few areas where we see clear value for our clients.
Ports and quays
Document condition, dimensions and damage on quay structures. Compare state over time and plan maintenance without putting divers in the water.
Construction sites and infrastructure
Get an overview of ground, volumes and existing buildings. Use the model as a basis for design, measurement and communication with contractors.
Industry and process plants
Create an accessible copy of hard-to-reach environments. Easier inspection, change planning and staff training.
Documentation and follow-up
A digital twin becomes a time-based archive. Compare built work against drawings, track wear and show evidence to clients.
Why Intely?
We've gathered inspection, measurement and development under one roof. With ROV, drones, GNSS and in-house software development we build digital twins shaped around your workflow – from raw data to finished application.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I need special software?
- No. We deliver twins that display directly in the browser or in an app. You don't need to buy expensive CAD or GIS licences to view or measure in the model.
- How accurate is a digital twin?
- Accuracy depends on method and needs. Drone photogrammetry can reach centimetre accuracy, while ROV inspections often prioritise visual documentation over millimetre-level measurement. We match method to use case.
- Can the model be updated over time?
- Yes. When something changes we re-capture the object and add the new data to the same model. That gives you a history showing how the facility evolves over time.
